A “released” result confirms the event reported by the named source. It does not prove that no transfer, new arrest, detainer, or other custody followed. Likewise, an agency-supplied release date in VINE is not the same thing as a projected date calculated by the Maryland public locator.

Direct CCDC confirmation remains important. Call 410-535-4300 for current operational information and ask whether the person remains housed there. Staff may limit what they disclose. When an exact release time, authority, or transfer destination is needed, request the existing booking and release record through Calvert County's public-record route.
Note: Register again after a court-level or custody-system transfer because an alert may remain tied to the former source record.
Maryland Locator and Calvert Releases
The DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator has a narrow role. It accepts first and last name and reports the facility for covered people in current state custody. The official notice says people no longer in custody for any reason, including release or escape, are not listed. Released profiles do not remain. The locator also has no public projected, tentative, or mandatory release-date field.
This makes the locator a current-custody check, not a released-person archive. If a previously visible person disappears, record only that the current-custody search did not return a match. Then check VINE, the sentencing docket, the Parole Commission or DPP where applicable, and the final DPSCS release record. A blank locator response cannot distinguish release, escape, a coverage limit, a name mismatch, or a move outside the population shown.
Calvert County VINELink Limits
VINE is supplemental. Source agencies can update late, people can have similar identifiers, and an alert may arrive after a move. DPSCS also warns that custody notices do not necessarily include every institution-to-institution transfer. If a result is disputed, contact the agency that owns the underlying event. CCDC owns its local gate or transfer entry. DPSCS owns state custody and release records. The court owns its orders, while DPP and the Parole Commission own different supervision facts.
Federal custody uses other channels. The BOP Inmate Locator can retain former federal prisoners with a “Released” label and date. U.S. Marshals pretrial custody is generally checked through the federal court or responsible public contact. ICE's locator is mainly a current immigration-detention tool, and a blank result does not establish community release. None of those federal sources should be described as Maryland VINE data.
A status also has a limited time scope. A Calvert County release event can be accurate for the moment CCDC reported it while a later warrant, transfer, or booking changes the person's situation. Keep a copy of the result only when needed for the permitted verification task, and write down the source agency instead of preserving an unlabeled screenshot.
